Part 2 google to the max

The internet is a way that information can be transmitted to others.  WWW is a website that you can view through the internet.  When searching the internet the search engine sends out a spider into the web and searches for all pages for the key words you are looking for.  Than it brings back information to you.  All search engines are different and some have bigger indexes than others.  Also, some webpages are available while others are not because they are not searchable by the search engine.  There are different tricks for searching the web such as truncation, phrase searching, boolean operators, search limits, and  special search characters.  Phrase searching allows you to find two or more words together.  Truncation allows you to search for many different variations of a single word at the same time.  Boolean Operators allow you to combine search terms in a lot of ways so your search is more accurate.  Special search characters is when you use different symbols on the keyboard to narrow your search.  While searching the web think about various questions such as who cares about or is interested in the topic that you are searching.  Once you find a site search for a site like the one you found because anyone can post information on the internet.  Some sites are misleading or have false information.  When you find a site look at who created the site, what's the domain of the site, and if they have any proof of if the information is true or not.  Books go out of date quickly, but the information on the web is not always accurate, which is why when your searching the web you need to be very careful.

Part 3 google to the max

Example 1: Differences between searching google and yahoo

There are no differences between them

Bottom Line:
The webpage is just as good as what you can find in journal articles or other published literature that is not on the general free web.

Part 1 google to the max

Example 1: What is matched on?

Google page rank was worded in my search and matches with google page rank calculator because of the word proximity and placement.  The wording from my search is very similar to one of the websites titled google page rank calculator, which is why it led me to that website.

Example 2: Word Order and Word Choice Matter
While searching the two words snake and grass in google, depending on how you word the phrase will depend on the results you get.  If you type snake grass in google you will get information about grass.  If you search grass snake you will get information about a snake.  If you google snake in the grass it usually eliminates the "in" and the "the" and you just get information about a type of grass.  If you search snake+in+the+grass you will get more specific results but not as specific as searching "snake in the grass" in the search engine.

Example 3: Exploiting "FUZZY" google options
1. http://www.unescap.org/esid/psis/population/database/poplaws/law_china/ch_record052.htm

digital story 3 narrative

An oil spill is the release of liquid petroleum hydrocarbon in the environment.  Recently, there has been an oil spill here in the waters of the gulf of mexico, which is my home. The leak is currently releasing 5,000 barrels of oil everyday. On April 20, the Deep Water Horizon exploded and sank, leading to this tremendous oil spill.  The Coast guard is putting up containment booms to help contain the spill and they hope to burn the oil away, but weather and ecological concerns can complicate this procedure.  Also, such burning only works if the oil is thick enough.   Recently, I have been terribly effected by the oil spill.  The oil spill has left me covered in oil, leaving it hard for me to fly.  I am now less buoyant in the water and now that it is harder to fly there is less of a chance that I will get away from predators.  The oil that covers my feathers is ingested into me and this can cause kidney damage, altered liver function, and digestive tract irritation for me.  I have become fore dehydrated and my metabolism has become unbalanced.  There is not a great chance of me surviving.  If the oil spill is not contained soon enough, this could be the worst oil spill in history.

My digital Story 2

My digital story is about my dreams that I have for my future, which includes what I want to be when i grow up, what I want to be, what I want to do, and what I want to have.  Everyone has dreams and I hope I can make my dreams come true.

Digital Story Narrative 2

Everybody has dreams about what their future will be like, but I have a dream that my future will be very successful.  I hope that my future will he full of happiness and success.  First off, I would like to graduate high school with an impressive transcript and SAT score so I can get accepted to many colleges.  Not only do I want to get accepted to some of the best colleges out there, but I would also like to receive scholar ships to a few colleges since college is expensive.  I hope to go to a great college and later after, have a good career.  I am hoping to be some sort of a doctor when I get older.  This will be hard work, but in the end I know that all my studying and hard work that I put towards school will pay off.  Not only do I want to be successful in school and my career, but I would also like to be successful in my social life too.  I would like to travel to a few other countries in my lifetime.  I want to get married and have a family when the time comes.  I want to live in a huge house and have a never ending closet of clothes and shoes.  I want to have a nice car too.  I would want all these things, but some of the money I make would have to be donated too.  I hope that I am successful everywhere I go and in everything I do.

Digitales Evaluation

The video that I thought the author was most globally competent was the video called Tear Drops by Ali who is a middle school student in colorado.  Her video is most globally competent because it reaches certain aspects on the graduate portfolio.  Ali meets the aspects of knowledge required in the global era, skilled for success in a global environment, and connect to the world in the graduate portfolio.  She meets these aspects of the graduate portfolio because she uses scientific understandings to explore possible solutions to help the world, demonstrates creative and complex thinking, and she evaluates and analyzes global issues, which is pollution in this video.  She talks about pollution and how it is bad.  The only aspect of the graduate portfolio that she does not meet is ready for college she is only a middle school student.

My digital story

My digital story is about technology. It shows mostly all the new technologies that we have today and how technology just keeps getting better and better. My digital story gives a picture of all the new electronic devices that we have today and most of the pictures have a caption explaining the picture. After I show all the technology that we have today such as, computers, ipods, television, etc., I show new technology that is believed to come out in the future. There is a short video in my story that shows you how technology will change over time and only become better.

Graduate Portfolio Reflection

My project, which is about technology, relates to my schools graduate portfolio in many ways.  There are a few portions in the graduate portfolio that relate to my project.  This project made me a literate for the twenty-first century and an effective user of technology.  By doing this project not only did I use technology to create the project and wrote about technology, but I used technology to help fix and better my spelling and grammar.  To do my project I used the computer and I explained about all the different technologies that we have today.  Technology has been advancing and is continuing to advance.  This project has also made me Socially Prepared and Culturally Sensitive because this project has shown me to use appropriate language and work efficiently with my peers if they need help or if even I myself needs help.  Also, I have seen how much technology has expanded and grown it makes me thankful for all the great things that we have today.  All these new technologies are great and I am thankful to have to advantage to use and have them unlike others who are less fortunate than myself.

story script 1

Our generation is about advancement.  Throughout the years our technology has been expanding and becoming more advanced.  There is all different technology in generation Y that we use on a daily basis.  The most common device that mostly everyone uses on a daily basis is the computer.  The computer is a piece of technology that allows you to go on the internet to research, communicate, and do basically anything possible.  It has a rectangular screen, a keyboard, and a mouse that you use to control what you do on the computer.  You can basically say anything and do anything on the internet.  Another very popular electronic device is the cellphone.  The cellphone is a device that allows you to stay in contact with people wirelessly. You can call someone if you wish to speak to a person, text someone, which is talking through words, and you can even go on the internet with your device.  Most cellphones are touch screen now.  All you have to do is touch whatever you want to clock on the screen and then it will go to where you click.  The IPod is a piece of technology that most people carry with them daily also.  The Ipod allows you to listen to music personally, anytime and anywhere. All you have to do is download the music on the computer and transfer it to your Ipod and then you can listen to it anytime and anywhere.  Another very popular electronic device is the television.  The television is a rectangular piece of technology that ranges from various sizes.  Your television could be both small and very large.  The television allows you to watch , and many other things if you have cable.  Cable or Fios allows people to access various things such as t.v. shows, documentaries, movies, to watch on their television.  The television allows you to play video games and watch movies and television.  Many years ago, the significant amount of new technology we have today was not available in the past!
